For over one hundred years Rosedale has held the distinction of being the city's most fashionable address. Many of Toronto's wealthiest and most prominent citizens reside here, including Ken Thomson who was the richest man in Canada at the time of his death.

Built between 1860 and 1930, many of Rosedale's large and stately homes are Heritage Properties constructed in Victorian, Georgian, Tudor and Edwardian styles. Rosedale is an ideal neighbourhood for families who are predominantly drawn to its large, sizable detached homes. Rosedale continues to be sought after for its tranquility, convenience, and proximity to the fine selection of upscale shops and restaurants in nearby Summerhill. Many public and private schools are situated in the neighbourhood including Branksome Hall, an exclusive all-girls school.

Rosedale Park is host to Mayfair, the annual spring park party traditionally held on the first Saturday in May. The event typically consists of rides, games, and the coveted flea market.

Rosedale is bordered by the CPR railway tracks to the north, Yonge Street to the west, Bloor Street to the south, and Bayview Avenue to the east. The Park Drive Ravine divides Rosedale into north and south halves.
